Privacy
Crowned collects as little as it can to run an awards night, and deletes it after 90 days. Questions or deletion requests go to support@crownedawards.com.
What we store
- The event: its name, its categories, and the date it was created.
- Names: the names the organizer types in, and the name each guest enters to join. We don't ask for emails, phone numbers or accounts.
- Votes and reasons: who each guest voted for, and any reason they wrote.
- Payment status: whether an event has an Event Pass, and Stripe's reference for the payment. Your card details go straight to Stripe; we never receive them.
Who can see what
- Anyone with an event's code can see the event name, its categories and the list of names.
- Nobody sees how an individual guest voted, not even the organizer. Results show totals only, and only once each award is revealed.
- Reasons are shown without the writer's name, and only after the organizer approves them. The organizer sees every reason in order to approve or hide it, also without names.
On your device
Crowned doesn't use cookies. Your browser's local storage keeps a random key that remembers you joined an event (so you can change your votes), and, for organizers, the key from the organizer link. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Services we use
- Amazon Web Services hosts the app and its database in the United States.
- Stripe processes Event Pass payments.
- Anthropic writes the short toast for each winner. We send it the event name, the award, the winner's name, the vote count and any approved reasons, nothing else.
- Cloudflare runs our domain's DNS and forwards email sent to our support address.
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces, so your browser contacts Google, which receives your IP address.
Logs and abuse limits
We don't keep access logs. To stop automated abuse, the server holds IP addresses in memory for up to an hour while counting requests, and then forgets them.
How long we keep it
Every event, with all its names, votes and reasons, is deleted automatically 90 days after it's created. An organizer can delete it sooner from the organizer page. Backups of the database are kept for up to 14 days, so deleted data is gone from them within 14 days as well.
Your choices
To have your name or votes removed from an event, ask its organizer, or email us the event code and your name. We'll remove them within 30 days. Crowned isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
